Our Processes

1)  Ideas Stocktake

This is a two-tier process. Initially you interviewed by senior undergraduate students who have been awarded a Partnering for Innovation Summer Studentship. These students will initially write a 100 word summary of your idea for you to check. Once this has been confirmed, the students will research the potential commercial opportunities around your idea. They will carry out market research, evaluate the IP situation, asses the competition and if there is a place in the market and a need for your technology. All technology/IP is treated with the utmost confidentiality.

This is a great way to get into the system with minimal effort. The research completed during the writing of this report will determine if it is worth preparing an application for Partnering for Innovation funding.

Following this, if your idea is selected to go further, an application form needs to be completed.

Please note: Although the majority of people participate in this process over summer, Partnering for Innovation has staff available to compile an Ideas Stocktake at any time.

Contact Victoria Jameson to participate.

2)  Bright Ideas Concept Evaluation

Investment of up to $15,000

This can include salary plus departmental overhead as well as a strategic investment in the project for a person to develop the business concept. Staff will work with the Entrepreneur in Residence and be nurtured through the process, giving them valuable skills and knowledge.

3)  Bright Ideas Concept Development

Investment of up to $30,000

This is an extension of the Bright Ideas Concept Evaluation investment. It is designed to provide significant support to the project but is not designed to cover running costs. Investments can include funding to obtain proof of concept or to develop a prototype.

4)  Project Support

Investment of over $30,000.
