Funding Opportunities

Partnering for Innovation investment is designed to provide time buy-out or strategic investment funding to academics, postdoctoral fellows or postgraduate students to enable them to engage with commercialisation in areas such as market assessment, industry partnership selection and development, IP management, technology business due diligence, opportunity analysis, and commercial proposition development.

Levels of support range from an Ideas Stocktake report, described in Processes, through to Project Support, described below:

1) Bright Ideas Concept Evaluation

Investment of up to $15,000

This can include salary plus departmental overhead as well as a strategic investment in the project for a person to develop the business concept. Staff will work with the Entrepreneur in Residence and be nurtured through the process, giving them valuable skills and knowledge.

2) Bright Ideas Concept Development

Investment of up to $30,000

This is an extension of the Bright Ideas Concept Evaluation investment. It is designed to provide significant support to the project but is not designed to cover running costs. Investments can include funding to obtain proof of concept or to develop a prototype.

3) Project Support

Investment of over $30,000

We recommend that you contact us well before submitting your application. This enables us to assist you and ensures your application addresses the necessary questions. The committee meets monthly and consulting us prior to submission will speed up process.

What's Happening

Partnering for Innovation 2010 Seminar Programme

The Partnering for Innovation Seminar Programme is being run again in Dunedin this year. The speakers people who are involved in various stages of developing a technology based business, from initial development of the idea through to marketing and selling. There are 10 presentations, which will be held fortnightly, from the end of April.
