Training and Courses
Information on all courses at the University of Otago, including many professional discliplines, ie health professions, is available at http://www.otago.ac.nz/courses.
The courses linked below have applied aspects that aim to add knowledge and understanding of business practice to science or health science qualifications.
Partnering for Innovation
Partnering for Innovation Seminar Series
The Partnering for Innovation Seminar Series will introduce University of Otago staff and post-graduate students to investors and business people who have been involved with taking an idea down the commercialisation pipeline.
The aim of the series is to encourage university personnel to think about their work in terms of commercial potential by providing seminars from people who have:
- Developed an idea and taken it along a commercial path.
- Developed from a scientific career path into a commercial path.
- Seen a market opportunity in technology and developed a business.
- Been involved with the development and marketing of a technology-based product.
The presenters have varying experiences and come from a wide range of research backgrounds. They will discuss, from a New Zealand perspective, the different stages of the pipeline that they were involved with to take an idea through to the market. There will be some emphasis on earlier-stage ideas, as people should find this easier to relate to and should therefore get more out of the presentations.
